"The Bad Mammies"
This project was undertaken alongside my college students, who complete a 'Final Major Project' at the end of each academic year. I like to complete my own project as they work on theirs to give them some form of reference for the creative stages they might need to follow, and the different developmental tools they could use to create successful artwork.
I had identified in my own illustration work that I tend to create posed, almost stationary images. For me this project was about developing more 'dynamic' artwork, which has a greater sense of movement, and would hopefully lead to a screen printed final outcome.
Before creating the final screen prints, I decided to add a bit of detail to the digital illustration, applying paper textures, stains and distressing. I almost exclusively use True Grit Texture Supplies for all my distressing needs.
